George Floyd Memorial Vandalized

(Photo: Rhea M on Twitter in Pix11)

What we all agree on: On Sunday morning, a skateboarder threw paint on a statue of George Floyd in Union Square, NYC.

Left

What else is the left focusing on?

  • The statue had barely been up for two days.
  • Other memorials to George Floyd have been vandalized across the country.

The narrative: This vandalism was tragic, and is another painful reminder that racism is still widespread in our society even though the right refuses to acknowledge it.

Right

What else is the right focusing on?

  • Many statues of historically significant figures — who deserve to be memorialized — have been vandalized recently.
  • This is a victimless crime.

The narrative: The left often vandalizes statues of historically significant figures because they don’t believe they should be celebrated — why is it all of a sudden a hate crime when it’s done to Floyd’s statue?
